Have You Tried Yoga? This question turns up in memes so I want to explore it over a number of posts. Yoga is routinely presented as a catch all solution for any issue you dare to voice, but classes don't always cater to the diverse needs of our community. The practice of yoga is so much bigger than gym style classes full of lithe legging clad bodies and Instagram ready athletic poses. When you explore deeper you find yoga can be useful for each one of us when adapted to meet our own unique needs. For me, much of the time yoga looks like the photo. Lying down, resting, gentle movement, passive stretches, breathing, coming back to the present again and again. Sometimes it looks like me at the front of a class teaching gentle or chair yoga in a local community centre, hall, or library. Many of my students are seniors or people living with a chronic illness. What could yoga could look like in your life at the moment? What aspects of yoga do you already have in your life? Practices? Outlook? Mindset? What aspects of yoga are lapsed habits? What aspects of yoga do you want to do more of? Asanas (yoga postures) which can be the gentlest of movements. Pranayama (breathing exercises) Relaxation, Mindfulness and Meditation Moral and Personal principles of conduct Philosophy Come and hang out with me on YouTube where I am being brave and showing up, figuring out how to present to a camera rather than a class. There is one photo of Claire showing head and torso, eyes closed, hands resting on abdomen, she is a white woman with brown hair, wearing a long sleeve royal blue tshirt, laying on a green yoga mat on a wooden floor.
